Free Scrapbook Printables - How to Make a Great Scrapbook Without a Great Amount of Money

Have you been interested in starting to scrapbook but have been worried about the time and money you will need to spend? Or perhaps you don't feel that you are artistic enough to make a scrapbook. The answers to these concerns are free scrapbook printables. The amount of online material at no cost and professionally made is quite large. If you are just starting out or don't want to take the time to create your own scrapbook pages then by all means you should be taking advantage of all the great material that is being provided to you by the top sites on the Internet.

To get free scrapbook materials then type in "free scrapbook printables" into your Internet browser and you will get a long list of sites that provide these. Before going any further you need to decide what the theme of the scrapbook will be about. Otherwise you can easily end up wasting time and could end up with a scrapbook that you didn't really want.

For example let's say you want a theme of a trip to the beach. Type in "free scrapbook printables beach trip" into your Internet browser. From the many websites returned you should be able to find what you are looking for in the first few pages. You will find sites that will be providing individual items for your scrapbook or entire scrapbook kits. To save time and money I suggest selecting one of the kits. These are professionally made and look great.

Go ahead and download the kit. I suggest setting up a directory for your scrapbooking kits with subdirectories for each individual kit. This will make organizing your scrapbooks easy. Now that you have downloaded the scrapbook kit you have the choice of printing out the scrapbook materials or using digital scrap booking to make your scrapbook. If you are just starting out go ahead and print out the scrapbook materials. This will allow you to make the scrapbook faster than having to learn a digital editing program first although they are rather easy to use.

To make your scrapbook follow these steps:

Organize how you want the pages to look
Create your background and/or borders
Crop and mat your pictures
Start placing the pictures into the scrapbook
Put journaling onto each page of the scrapbook
Add the embellishments

Free scrapbook printables kits remove the issues of not enough time, money or artistic ability. If you've been wanting to make scrapbooks then don't wait any longer.

Making Use of Scrapbooking Supplies

Scrapbooking tools are essential to creating a successful scrapbook. The supplies for scrapbooking are what make your scrapbook come to life. What most people don't know is that there are many ways that you can use ordinary scrapbook supplies and do something extraordinary with them. I'm going to walk you through a few tips and tricks of scrapbooking, and teach you techniques to come up with your own scrapbooking ideas!

Take a rubber stamp, a scrapbooking material that every scrapbooker should have. You can use this scrapbooking tool to stamp images beside your photographs, or you can take it a step further by stamping a collage on solid-colored scrapbook paper to create a custom scrapbook page layout background. Also, you can color in your stamped images to bring them to life and make them pop out more on your scrapbook page.

Another scrapbooking tip to make use of your supplies for scrapbook is using scrapbook templates creatively. It's easy to become stumped while using this scrapbooking material. You can decorate around a photo, or even the border of a page. These scrapbook supplies can be used to draw an area the put your scrapbook journaling in, also. One other useful technique for scrapbook templates is for making a page header. There are many attractive letter templates that make for beautiful scrapbook page headers, or even write words around the border of a page with the letter template.

You can do creative things with a pair of scissors, also. Although decorative scissors with different patterns on the edge are nice, they are not a necessity of scrapbooking supplies. Cut mats for photos with creative borders, or use them with templates to cut out letters and other things to give a 3D effect on your scrapbook page.

Those are just a few of the many ways you can use scrapbook supplies. Be creative with your scrapbooking tools. To come up with original ways to use your supplies for scrapbooking, simply look at what others have done. Take ideas that you like, and alter them to fit your scrapbook. Use scrapbook tools in any way that you like. There are no rules.

Test your ideas out on scrap paper before you actually put it into your scrapbook. This way, you can see if you really like the idea or not, and tweak the design a bit to your liking. If you come up with something that you like, but don't know when you will use it, write it down for later reference.

Remember that there are no rules to using your scrapbooking materials and scrapbook supplies. Be creative!

There are all sorts of scrapbooking materials online. T. Ashley has been scrapbooking for many years, along with teaching other to scrapbook, and is also the founder of and maintains http://www.start-scrapbooking.com

Starting a Successful Creative Scrapbooking Business, Part III

Every scrapbook is unique and inviting; as a creative scrapbooking professional, your marketing should be as eye-catching and irresistible as your creations. Even if you have only a few hundred dollars to spend, you can absolutely woo clientele using grassroots methods to showcase your creative scrapbooking acumen.

Educate Others in the Art Form of Creative Scrapbooking

One of the fastest ways to turn yourself from an unknown scrapbooker into a creative scrapbooking "expert" is to teach a class on the art of creating a fabulous, memorable scrapbook.

Though you might initially be wary that if you tell others your creative scrapbooking "secrets", they won't use your creative scrapbooking business, that usually doesn't happen. Instead, what occurs is that your students see you as a professional in the arena of scrapbook design and development. Thus, when they want an important scrapbook (e.g., for their daughter's Bar Mitzvah or husband's retirement celebration), they will immediately think of you. After all, they might enjoy creative scrapbooking, but they don't necessarily feel confident enough to construct a special scrapbook on their own.

You can work with many community centers, schools, college campuses, and libraries to offer your creative scrapbooking courses. Expect to spend a bit of money on advertising, room rental (though you can often snag a free space if you're a start-up), and creative scrapbooking paraphernalia, though it's still much less of an investment than if you paid for a full page, 4-color ad in the Sunday paper.

Write About Scrapbooking

Another way to become an instant creative scrapbooking "guru" is to write articles or tips about creative scrapbooking. Sometimes, smaller community papers will print such items as "filler" for their circulars. Alternately, if a local sewing center or arts and crafts store offers a newsletter to patrons, you might be able to become a "guest columnist." (Or perhaps you can offer to write your own "creative scrapbooking newsletter" gratis if they agree to pass it out to consumers.)

Will you receive a ton of creative scrapbooking business from this type of subtle "marketing"? Probably not. But you will be building your reputation as your area's premier creative scrapbooking authority. You will also be able to tell prospective customers that you've published items on the topic of creative scrapbooking, always an impressive credential to tout (and a resume booster as well.)

Start a Scrapbooking Blog and/or Web site

In today's cyber society, blogs and Web sites are fairly inexpensive, so there's no reason not to get online and start talking about your creative scrapbooking know-how and burgeoning creative scrapbooking company.

For example, you could quickly set up a blog 100% devoted to the tricks of the creative scrapbooking trade in an effort to attract persons from around the world to your site. Though most of them won't become clients, you stand to gain instant exposure. And who knows? The family down the street may wind up stopping by your creative scrapbooking Web site and hiring you to redo their three sons' baby books!

Never Stop Selling Yourself or Your Scrapbooking Abilities!

It's critical that you never stop selling yourself and your creative scrapbooking business if you are serious about succeeding in this infant industry with huge profit potential.

This may mean stepping out of your "comfort zone" and becoming a master at self-promotion. If you have an innate fear of networking, it's time to overcome your worries and learn how to shake some hands. Remember that you won't be the first entrepreneur who took a plunge into the unknown.

To become a better press generator on behalf of your creative scrapbooking business, you'll have to force yourself to try again and again. However, if the process becomes achingly difficult and hampers your desire to scrapbook, it may be time to hire someone to promote your business on your behalf. Yes, this is a "last ditch" measure, but if it keeps your dream alive, it's worth the cost to bring on a partner who isn't afraid of a good sales pitch. (And many individuals will work with start-ups on a commission basis, which is terrific news for your budget!)

A Final Note about Ethics and Your Scrapbooking Venture

Though it's imperative that you keep up standards and operate ethically and legally (the tax man will cometh whether you like it or not!), that doesn't mean you can't be innovative. Constantly seek out ways to differentiate yourself from other scrapbook artists and allow yourself to grow personally and professionally.

Love your work, and that positive attitude mingled with creative scrapbooking talent will draw customer inquiries and have you wondering why you didn't begin your creative scrapbooking company sooner.

Free Scrapbooking Templates - How To Find Them Online

Using templates to create your scrapbook pages can be a great timesaver. Scrapbook templates help you be consistent in cropping your photos and in creating a more organized look. You can place them over photos, and they're good tools for all your pages. Examples of the types of templates available include templates for journaling, cropping, and layout. And many templates are available without charge. Here are some reasons to use free scrapbooking templates.

1. Save Effort. Selecting a theme for scrapbook is no simple feat. Choosing colors, designs, and layout takes time and thought. Free scrapbooking templates save you from that chore. They also save you the task of researching different ideas and finding the right ones for your scrapbook project. By using free scrapbooking templates, things are already coordinated, and the pieces fit together well without work on your part.

2. Save Time. While great fun, scrapbooking is a time-consuming activity that many of us can't afford today. Planning layout, design, and color schemes comes first. Assembling photos, mementos, and embellishments comes next. Then assembling everything into an attractive package requires a major time investment. We look everywhere for ways to save time, and free scrapbooking templates are a great time-saver. When you use free scrapbooking templates, you already have the basic page for your pictures. All you have to do is add your personal elements, and you're done!

3. Save Money. You can spend a good deal of money creating your own template. Scrapbooking supplies and materials aren't cheap, as any trip to the craft store will prove. By using free scrapbooking templates, you don't have to invest your hard-earned dollar in a quality design. And you don't have to buy new tools to create your own.

Can I find free scrapbooking templates on the Internet?

Yes. There are several websites dedicated to arts and crafts. They offer a variety of resources on home crafting projects, and they're the most likely places to find free scrapbooking templates.

* Craft and Scrapbooking Websites

In addition to free scrapbooking templates, these sites offer valuable tips and advice for some great scrapbooking ideas. Many of them include photographs they've assembled into related sets to support various themes. You can search their sites for your theme or browse the designs they display. Although this is not a complete template, it gives you free building blocks to build your own templates. Rather than tying you down to someone else's idea of what your scrapbook pages should look like, you can use these free resources and your own creativity to develop exactly what you want.

The websites offer groups of images and other elements focused on specific themes. You can browse these materials to find a theme you like. You can also search for a specific theme using a search engine like Google to find a site that may be dedicated to your theme. Many of these websites are designed specifically for people who want to use a theme for their scrapbooking project, and they may contain additional hints and information prepared by the person who created the specific template.

For scrapbookers who prefer that look of organized chaos, getting individual scrapbook components is also possible. Just remember that free scrapbooking templates help you organize your work around a single unifying theme and makes your scrapbook more attractive. After all, we usually create a scrapbook to memorialize a single event or idea, making templates ideal.

* Group Websites

Several sites provide free scrapbooking templates for their group. Members can create scrapbooks reflecting their group experience. Using these free scrapbooking templates gives you an opportunity to meet others with your interests and helps you build relationships with other group members through your scrapbooking project. You can compare each others' work and get new ideas.

These are just a few ideas about using free scrapbooking templates for your next scrapbooking project. Whether you want a complete page template or elements, you can find them at one of many websites dedicated to scrapbooking. Not only do they offer the template, most of them also offer careful instructions that show you how to use it. Adding your own touches, of course, makes the design yours and your scrapbook more interesting and unique.

Scrapbook Albums and How to Construct One

Your honeymoon was delightful. You spent 11 days in Bora Bora, and now you'd like to capture those memories in one place. A friend suggested a scrapbook album, but you don't know how to construct a scrapbook album.

Honeymoon scrapbook albums can be fun to make, even if you have never tried one before. Tropical scrapbook albums also are exciting. When one combines the best of tropical scrapbook albums and honeymoon scrapbook albums, the results can be amazing. But how do you make scrapbook albums?

Let's look at the steps.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 1

Scrapbook albums come in a range of materials, sizes, and styles. The first step in constructing scrapbook albums is choosing the album itself.

1. Materials: Leather scrapbook albums are likely to be the most expensive. Honeymoon scrapbook albums are precious, however, and you may want to choose durable leather for yours. Cloth-covered scrapbook albums are also a good choice. Some have a window opening on the front cover for a special photo. The cloth used is usually book cloth, so it is strong. Cheap scrapbook albums are also available. These are usually made of heavy cover stock, plain or covered with paper.

2. Sizes: Standard scrapbook albums have a useable page size of 12x12 inches. The scrapbook album itself may measure 13x14 inches or more, but part of that is the book's spine. Some scrapbook albums are larger - as large as 18x20 inches. Smaller scrapbook albums are as small as 4x6 inches. As a novice, you may want to select from the standard scrapbook albums, since scrapbook supplies are made to that standard.

3. Styles: As the popularity of scrapbooking has increased, the variety of styles in scrapbook albums has mushroomed. Plain cover scrapbook albums come in many colors. Some scrapbook albums have a military-themed cover, featuring the military branch and a gold plated service medallion. Others have a Disney theme, with Mickey Mouse and friends adorning the cover. Tropical scrapbook albums, which you might choose for a honeymoon in Bora Bora, would be attractive in scrapbook albums with a bright red or blue Hibiscus-patterned cloth cover. You might even find unique Bora Bora scrapbook albums.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 2

Once you have selected a scrapbook album, you need to sort the photos and memorabilia you will use. Pay attention to the theme of each piece as well as the colors.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 3

Honeymoon scrapbook albums already have an overall theme - the honeymoon. Your next step will be to decide sub-themes for each 2-page spread. For example, you might have a theme of arrival at Bora Bora, with approach photos of the island from the air. This theme could also include photos taken upon landing. First impressions are important memories. Lay out your photos, deciding a theme for each page or 2-page spread. Then move to the next step.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 4

Background papers are a good way to tie pages together. Scrapbooking paper in standard 12x12 inch size comes in a multitude of colors and patterns. Plain paper is also available. Be sure you purchase paper that is acid free to protect your photos and memorabilia. Choose paper to complement the photos on each page.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 5

With your scrapbook album paper in place, arrange photos. Resist crowding your pages with photos. You will need space for notes and other elements. You might want to add a bit of torn paper beneath photos to set them off from the background. On come pages, you may want to put a paper frame around the photos. Such scrapbooking supplies are available at scrapbooking stores and websites.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 6

After you arrange and affix the photos, it's time to add journaling. "Journaling" is nothing more than notes or captions that help explain the photos. You may have a memory of what was said when a certain photo was taken - or a comment about what happened immediately before or after. Journaling can be done on small pieces of paper that are added to scrapbook albums much as photos are added.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 7

The final touch in constructing scrapbook albums is to add embellishments, charms, stickers, and other small pieces that add interest. Honeymoon scrapbook albums might include small hearts or kisses. Bora Bora scrapbook albums, or other tropical scrapbook albums, might include small sandals or seashells.

The Easier Route!

If construction of scrapbook albums "from scratch" sounds too complicated, or too time-consuming, you may want to purchase a scrapbooking honeymoon kit!

How do you make money as a digital scrapbook designer?

First off we must answer the question, “What is a digital scrapbook designer View definition in a new window?” The simple answer is, it is a person who creates digital papers, elements, embellishments, quick pages, kits, etc. Can you make money as a digital scrapbook designer View definition in a new window? The quick answer is yes, and if you are very good you can make a good deal of money.

There are many people today who refer to themselves as digital scrapbook designers and the vast majority of them do not make much money. There are any number of reasons why a scrapbook designer View definition in a new window does not make a lot of money. Below I have listed just a few.

They are simply not very good. This is hard to accept but in some cases it is true. They do not know how to market themselves. They do not try to market themselves. They do not have enough kits available for people to see. They are selling in the wrong place(s).

The list can go on and on but the above reasons are what I have found to be the most common reasons a scrapbook designer View definition in a new window does not reach their maximum income potential. As you can see other than natural talent the other reasons can all be fixed.

So do you have to be a great designer to make money? Well, it certainly does not hurt to have natural creative abilities but you can still make a pretty good living without being the best creative mind out there. How do you do that?

BE UNIQUE - This is the best way to brand yourself and stand out from the crowd. When you look through online stores you will find hundreds of kits that are very similar in style and theme. By coming up with something new and/or different people will remember you and your designs.QUALITY CONTROL- Everything you make must be of the highest quality. If you get a reputation as having bad quality work it won’t matter how good or creative you are.STUDY YOUR COMPETITION - Look at your competitors, where are they selling, what are they selling, how do they advertise, where to they hang out, do they outsource any work, etc., etc., etc.STUDY WHAT PEOPLE LIKE - Go to galleries and see what the people are looking at and commenting on. Remember that the big part of what people like will be the page layout, however, the kit(s) used to create the layout will be valuable information to you.MARKETING - This encompasses if/when/where and how you advertise. How you name your kits, your descriptions, forums, banners, visual appeal, etc. Testing is an important part of your marketing efforts. Not all ads or methods give the same results so you must test each one and see what yields the best results.PRICING - It is unfortunate that there are so many freebies available in the digital scrapbooking industry. There is not another industry I can think of that gives so much away. The funny thing is that many of the people and sites that are giving these kits away do it just for the chance to rank high on a specific topsite. It has nothing to do with generating sales. This also forces stores to follow the practice in order to compete. Even with the flooded freebie market you can make good money if you provide excellent designs, a quality product and you price it accordingly. People will still pay more money for better kits.SELL IN THE RIGHT PLACE - It is debatable whether selling in one store or many produces better results. There are many variables that play into the debate. I will not try to cover the differences in this post except to say that selling in the right store is crucial to your success. There have been many cases where a designer sells in one store without success and moves to another store and has great success.

This should give you a good base for succeeding in the digital scrapbooking industry. There are always going to be many factors that will contribute to your success or failure at any endeavor. There are still many more for this industry but if you concentrate on the above points you will have a good chance at success.

Family History

When creating scrapbooks for others family history can be an important area. Many people wish to save their family history for the generations to come. You can help them with that in many ways. It can be visual, or written. Combining photographs and journaling are a perfect way to create family history pages.

Some of your customers will balk at your request to write something about their family history but assure them they do not have to be professional writers. There is no right or wrong way to provide the information to you. Don’t allow your customer to be overwhelmed by the amount or lack of information on their family. The important thing is to let future generations hear what they have to say, their memories or stories. It is not a novel and they do not have to have every scrap of information available to have you create a wonderful memory book for them.

Some important facts in a family history album might include:

Birth/marriage/death dates & locations.Stories are a great way to keep alive the memories for years to come.Photos are not absolutely necessary, however they can communicate the history of a family more completely. Although it’s great to have photos of each family member in the history it is not essential. You can use photos of places, old homes they lived in, their tombstone, marriage certificates, newspaper articles, etc. You get the picture (no pun intended).

These are some simple ideas that can help you to create heritage pages for the family history album. Heritage pages can increase your income easily since most people want to have as much information as possible to pass on. They are fun to do and really allow you to get to know your customer and their family.

The 2 Most Important Words in Your Business

What do you think the 2 most important words in your scrapbooking business are? I think the most common answers to this question would be, thank you and I’m sorry.

Although the words above are important and you should certainly be using them often, the most important words in your business are BUY NOW. If they aren’t buying then you aren’t selling and if you aren’t selling then your are not making a living. So how do you get your client’s to buy now? What motivates them to make the decision to purchase right away?

Free Gifts
Everybody loves getting something for free and nothing attracts new customers like free gifts. This is a simple, time proven method of getting people to act. If you want to ensure they act quickly you can put a limit on the gift(s) such as limiting it to the first 100 people who order.

Offer an Upgrade
Another simple way to boost your sales is to offer an upgrade to your service or product. You might offer a hardbound scrapbook for the price of a softbound. You can use the same triggers above to make them act quickly.

Price Increase
Price increases motivate people to buy now. They may have been putting off making a purchase and the price increase is just the trigger they need to act now and buy. Be sure to give them a specific date when prices will increase to set the time limit.

Trial Pages
This is a take off of a trial period. You could offer a special price on a couple of scrapbook pages just to try your service.

Look at the advertising around you and come up with other ways to get your client’s to respond and BUY NOW!

Creative scrapbooking is an incredibly versatile field because you have virtually no boundaries. Graduation scrapbooks, family tree scrapbooks, baby scrapbooks, wedding scrapbooks, and achievement scrapbooks are only a few of the countless styles of creative scrapbooking inventions you can market.

Use your imagination; anything that's relatively flat can go into a scrapbook, so the sky's the limit.

Can Scrapbooking Really Be Profitable?

Creative scrapbooking, as with any legitimate business, won't make you rich overnight. But if you're determined and plan your creative scrapbooking operation pragmatically, you can absolutely make money from this burgeoning industry.

Best of all, creative scrapbooking is a low overhead industry. You'll need to start with a modest amount of scrapbooking supplies, but you can build your stock over time thanks to fast shipping and wholesale prices offered at Internet scrapbooking supply stores.

How Can I Start Professionally Scrapbooking?

Obviously, the first step to starting a creative scrapbooking company (even one with a single employee, aka "you") is to develop a business plan. This document should include an overview, financial information (including income and expense projections, marketing ideas, local competition statistics, and realistic growth rates.

Though you may not be able to find exact data to work into your creative scrapbooking business plan, try to be as complete as possible. The more information you include, the better your chances of success.

Do I Need Any Formal Training?

Though there are no credentials needed to call yourself a creative scrapbooking pro, you may want to take a few community courses on scrapbooking design. Doing so will keep you "in the know" as far as the latest products and trends are concerned; it will also provide you with fresh ideas to propose when working with clientele.

What Do I Need in Terms of Stock?

One of the most essential items you'll need to start a creative scrapbooking venture is scrapbooking paraphernalia. Chances are, you already have some supplies around your home, but if they aren't organized, it's time do so.

Invest in some bins (dollar stores have a plethora of options) and label them according to scrapbooking supplies, such as stickers, papers, backgrounds, adhesives, albums, markers, scrapbooking magazines (for inspiration), and borders. This way, you'll always know exactly how much of each scrapbooking necessity you have and can order more before you run out.

Do I Need to Rent a Space for My Scrapbooking Business?

Though it would certainly be wonderful to have an "offsite" locale for your creative scrapbooking enterprise, it's more likely that you'll need to make due with your current digs.

Anything from a corner of your family room to a renovated closet can serve as your creative scrapbooking "headquarters". Just make certain that you have enough space and light to work your magic and store your scrapbooking supplies!

What Will I Tell My Family?

If you're worried about "breaking" the news to your family that you're setting off on an entrepreneurial scrapbooking journey, you're not alone. Many first-time business owners are reticent to reveal their plans to loved ones for fear that their significant others will not be supportive.

With that said, it's critical to the long-term success of your creative scrapbooking business that you have the "buy in" of your kin. So take a deep breath, muster up all your courage, and boldly state, "I'm going to become a professional scrapbooker! And when the money starts coming in, the first dinner out is on me!"

How To Scrapbook For More Than One Child

Scrapbooking can be a delightful way to corral those family photos and memories into an exciting book. Scrapbooking can be relaxing for you as you do it, and a pleasure as you share it.

Books and articles on scrapbooking for 1 child abound, but suppose you have more than 1 child. Suppose you have 7 children. Then you need a book or article on how to scrapbook for more than 1 child.

You Have Scrapbooking Options

Those who want to scrapbook for more than 1 child have several exciting options.

1. Make a full-blown scrapbook for each. If you have many photos and memories to preserve, this allows the most space for each child. Your scrapbooking will require more time and money, but will be a labor of love.

The book's theme will focus on that one child. Place his or her photo and name on the front, and theme every scrapbooking page to that child's life.

You will use family photos, of course, to show the place the child held in family activities. But you will want pages that focus solely on that child: baby "firsts"; first year of school; favorite hobbies; favorite toys; dreams; birthdays; awards; graduation; etc. If a photo shows two of the children together, focus your journaling on that one child's part in the photo. How did the world look from his eyes or her eyes? Our memories are always, I have found, as seen through our eyes. Do mention the second child, but spotlight the first.

As each child becomes able, he or she can help add new pages to his or her scrapbook. Scrapbooking can be a time of bonding and love that will long be remembered.

When they leave home as young adults, they can take their individual scrapbooks with them. As they mature, they will come to realize what it meant in time, effort, and cost for you to provide these treasured scrapbooking memories.

2. Make a mini scrapbook for each. If you have fewer photos, want to be more selective, or simply have very little time for scrapbooking, a mini scrapbook will still provide individual, tangible memories that can be carried into adult life.

Select just one theme for each double-page spread, with one or two photos on each. Tie the photos together with your theme, mounting them on the same color of torn paper or using identical frames.

Mini scrapbooking will not allow for as many family or sibling photos, but remember that this is a book about one child. When you make a mini scrapbook for each child, you can rest assured that each will get full attention. There will be no "left-out" feelings.

A mini scrapbook can be no larger than 6" x 6". Or it can be half the size of a standard letter: 5.5" x 8.5". You can read details about how to make your own mini scrapbooks in my article entitled, "How to do Mini Scrapbooks".

Digital mini scrapbooks would be interesting for children, since they live in a computerized world. Digital mini scrapbooks can be less expensive to make, and people who are comfortable with one of the computer graphics programs, such as "Adobe PhotoShop", will be able to apply interesting effects that are not possible with conventional scrapbooking.

3. Make a family scrapbook for each. A third way to scrapbook for more than one child is to make a family scrapbook for each. Less attention will be paid to individual children, in such a book, and focus placed on the entire family unit.

Your scrapbooking theme is your entire family, including every family member. Place the family name on the cover, and a nice family photo, if you wish. On the title page, write a note about the family as a whole.

Scrapbooking a single volume of memories will call for both family memories and individual memories. Theme your pages to focus on high lights of family life. Begin with Dad and Mom - the wedding, especially. You will still have a scrapbooking page for each child's birth, but there will probably be insufficient space for every "first" of every child. Try to include true highlights of each child's life. Include amusing times as well as those that were less pleasant. Include school events; sports; musical interests; birthdays; awards, graduations, and family pets.

You may still want to include your children's scrapbooking efforts as they become old enough to take part in the process. Scrapbooking family memories will give opportunity to discuss those memories, and solidify them in each one's mind.

When each child leaves home, for college attendance, to marry, etc., make a copy of the book as it is at that time, and present it as a going-away gift. Office supply stores or copy centers can copy each page in color on heavy paper or cardstock, and bind them with s durable spiral binding. Covers can be copied in color or black and white on cover stock.

Your scrapbooking gifts will vary for each child, according to when they leave home, but personal family memories of their time at home will be preserved.

4. Make a Perpetual Digital Scrapbook. If you want to scrapbook for more than 1 child with the least time involvement, you may want to consider a perpetual digital scrapbook.

Digital scrapbooking may contain hundreds, or even thousands, of pages, and yet take up no more space than a small computer CD. Digital scrapbooks allow you to add pages, even when the family is grown and dispersed.

Digital scrapbooks need never be printed. You can include individual pages of every child's "firsts" as well as all of your family photos. Throughout life, you can continue to make pages. As each is completed, simply attach it to e-mail and send it to every family member. They can add each page to their scrapbooking CD, and continue the family album.

TIP: A digital scrapbook on a CD in a bank safe deposit box is the safest way to store your family memories. Your digital scrapbook will be safe from fire, floods, and other disasters.

Various Scrapbooking Tools You Need to Start Scrapbooking Now

Scrapbooking can be a very challenging task for the beginner. For one thing, you need creativity in order to form an attractive work of art. You also need to think up a definite theme which forms the spine of the scrapbook. The things you put within the scrapbook also should be arranged in such a way that their significance is unmistakable. With all these complexities, many people would be hard-pressed to finish a scrapbook without the correct tools.

So what tools would you actually need to put a scrapbook together?

1 ) Scissors. Everybody knows what scissors are, right? Well, here's a allegory for the scissors in scrapbooking. Scissors are like bringers of order. Scissors shape the small bits of paper into forms that you may use in your scrapbook. This scrapbooking tool is very important in making pieces fit together. A few individuals may refuse to chop the bits of paper, but only thru this, can the scrapbook be finished.

In that sense, two scissors can symbolize the honest truth. Why, you ask? Well, the truth hurts [*T]. But it has got to hurt, does not it? It has to hurt if it is to set you free.

There are two specific types of scissors you can use as scrapbooking tools:

A ) Standard paper-cutting scissors. These scissors are made to chop and to chop straight. This is the type of scissors folks encounter from the start of their infancy. You have to be able to trust your scissors to chop straight, as it just looks ugly if you unintentionally use dull scissors and screw up the cut of the paper.

B ) Creative scissors. This type of scissors can be bought at different art supply shops. These scissors are markedly formed to produce different types of cuts. Using this scrapbooking tool can be a full lot more practical than trying to follow a pattern using straight-cutting scissors. You see, using conventional scissors can provide you with carpal tunnel thanks to the stress your fingers will be taking. And that's not good at all, is it?

2 ) A punch, also called a hole punch. This nifty scrapbooking tool is used typically to punch holes into paper. There are, once again, 2 types of punchers available out there:

A ) Conventional punch. This type of puncher produces round holes. Strangely enough, this type of puncher wasn't designed as a scrapbooking tool, but as an office supply. For those of today's generation, files are known as the thing you keep documents in your PC. for people, files consist of vital papers and documents which are organized together. Punchers were used to put holes into those documents to accommodate a fastener. Punchers are used today to make perfect circles on scrapbooking pages.

B ) Formed punch. This kind of puncher, just about works in the same manner as the conventional puncher. However, the edges of the punching mechanism take different shapes to accommodate your creating needs. This scrapbooking tool is used to make different shaped holes in the pages of the scrapbook.

3 ) Tweezers. Tweezers are typically used as scrapbooking tools in order to enable the crafter to put in a design or to glue in a bit of paper tidily. You see, when making a scrapbook, you'll be working with different materials together with a large amount of glue. Due to this, there's a heavy risk of you smudging the different footage of the scrapbook. Tweezers are glorious scrapbooking tools to maintain the cleanliness of your handiwork.

4 ) Computer. This can be a brilliant scrapbooking tool due to the fact that it can do a whole host of things. On the PC, you can do research on what scrapbooking theme to use. This implies you are given more resources on the types of different themes and the ways that you can incorporate them in your scrapbook. You may use the computer to get more photographs to put in your scrapbook. By utilizing the PC, you get all a benefit of modern technology and can therefore, make your scrapbook into anything you like. But, more importantly it allows you to explore digital scrapbooking software.

Scrapbooking tools permit people to have a less complicated time crafting their scrapbook pages. However, you need to remember that in some cases mistakes actually make a scrapbook more personal and make you, the scrapbooker more touchable. Mistakes show the human side of you. Like the memories you show on a scrapbook, the making of it shouldn't always be perfect, but it should be fun.

Viral Marketing - Why You Need it!

In order to win at the “get more traffic to your website” game you must use every tool and method at your disposal. If you are more diligent than your competition in vying for the targeted traffic, I promise you that you will not only win the traffic game but you will also have a better chance of winning the sales game.

Regardless of how beautiful your website is, or how great your product and services are. If you don’t bring traffic to your website then who will know. Every day more and more people are using online research before making purchases of any kind, whether they are products or services and this trend will only grow. If you are lost in the vast sea of internet websites then you don’t have much of a chance to succeed.

There are many methods used today to drive traffic to a website. One of them is known as Viral Marketing or Viral advertising. This type of marketing is used to build public awareness of your product or service. The easy way to remember this is to think of a cold. Colds are viral, meaning that they can spread easily from one person to another. That is what viral marketing does. It spreads your message, or brand from one person to another.

The reason that viral marketing works so well is because it is your friend who is telling or in our case is selling you. When you get an email from a friend you are going to open it and read what they have to say. If your friend thinks something is cool you are more likely to check it out than if I (who you don’t know) was to tell you how cool it is.

So how do you use Viral Advertising or marketing to your advantage? The goal is to gain as much publicity and awareness as possible. This way you are generating a flow of traffic that is targeted to your site. If you use a little ingenuity and imagination and maybe throw in some incentives or prizes, you can reach out to a great number of people and let them know you exist.

The scrapbooking industry is a highly viral industry. How did you find your first site? How many times have you gone to a site because a friend of yours said how great it was? How many times have you sent someone to a site that you liked? Have you ever seen a layout you liked and then searched for that person to see what other layouts they have produced? In the scrapbooking industry viral marketing works and that’s why you need it!

Here are a couple ideas you might use.

Write a history of scrapbooking’s presence online. What were the earliest blogs and websites? What site was most popular? Is that site or blog still around?Offer a free service to anyone who asks, utilizing one of your skills and ask for nothing in return.Create and give away a free ebook. Be sure to pack it with value.Assemble a collection of amazing photos/scrapbook pages.Hold a contest.

You get the picture, right? Viral marketing is really a very simple concept. Figure out something that people can get involved with or something that might be highly controversial. These are the kinds of things that get people talking and once they start talking you will start getting visitors. From there it is your job to convert them into sales.

Free Scrapbooking Ideas - Advantages and Disadvantages

Ideas are very valuable. Yet somehow it seems that people have always underestimated the true power of ideas. However, the world today is finally starting to realize the importance of ideas and now thrives on taking action on those ideas and turning them into something.

We need ideas to fuel creativity. In scrapbooking, ideas can be crucial factors on whether or not you are able to create that perfect scrapbook. It is usually best for you come up with your own ideas when creating a scrapbook. But we all need help sometimes and to give you a bit of help there are places where you can find free scrapbooking ideas.

Here are a few places where you look to find free scrapbooking ideas...

1) Other people - We all know that all ideas come from people. What this article is trying to point out, however, is the fact that you should ask other scrapbookers for some free scrapbooking ideas. By doing so, you might just brew up a good brainstorming session and get some really useful scrapbooking ideas. You will probably even think up a few ideas to share as well.

2) The internet - The internet is a huge resource for all kinds of scrapbooking ideas. On the internet, there are numerous sites that give free scrapbooking ideas you can use. By searching around the internet you will find many free scrapbooking ideas, and you also get to access many different types of inspirational boosters. This will actually help you produce scrapbooking ideas of your own.

The internet can also provide you lots of resources to find what other people think of a certain scrapbooking idea. By getting these opinions you can get a better glimpse of what free scrapbooking ideas might work for you. You also get a lot of advice as to how to implement a certain scrapbooking idea. Because of this, you will have an easier time designing your scrapbook.

3) Craft magazines - Different magazines specialize in crafts and may offer you free scrapbooking ideas. By reading magazines like these, you actually gain access not only to free scrapbooking ideas, but also to ideas for other crafts. Also, these magazines can give you various tips on what to do and what not to do when creating your own scrapbook.

Craft magazines also sometimes come with supplements and materials that you can use in implementing different scrapbooking ideas. This means that you have access to the "what" and the "how" of scrapbooking.

What are some advantages of free scrapbooking ideas?

1) You save money - Of course, the word "free" should clue you in to the fact that you do not have to spend anything in order to get free scrapbooking ideas. By finding free scrapbooking ideas, it's possible to actually make money. Scrapbooking ideas today, especially good ones, can lead to a very lucrative business venture if you want to pursue that route.

2) Less effort - By using free scrapbooking ideas, you save yourself the hassles of thinking up a theme or a design of the scrapbook. If you have some free scrapbooking ideas, you can just move on with the stage of making the scrapbook itself. This saves you a lot of effort, especially if you are the type of person who changes his or her mind constantly.

3) Save you time - When you use free scrapbooking ideas, you can actually skip the whole thinking process and just start getting creative. This is a big advantage in today's world where none of us seem to have enough time.

What are some disadvantages of free scrapbooking ideas?

1) Lack of individuality - If you use free scrapbooking ideas, your scrapbook will lack a certain quality of your personality. When you use someone else's idea, you strip yourself of the fulfillment that comes with creating a scrapbook straight from your own creativity.

2) Less satisfaction - Using free scrapbooking ideas from someone else usually leaves you less satisfied with the final outcome. Although there really are no guarantees about how a creation will turn out, using your own ideas means you know more about what changes to make in order to bring the scrapbook up to your satisfaction. Remember the more you know about your scrapbook, the easier it will be for you to perfect it.

To summarize, there are many places where you can get free scrapbooking ideas to help you create your perfect scrapbook. There are advantages to using these free ideas but there are also disadvantages. I suggest using a combination of your own scrapbooking ideas and the ideas of others, at least until you build up enough of your own ideas to easily create scrapbook pages.

The Core Principles - Are you using them?

There are a few core marketing principles that you should be practicing on a regular basis. If not you could be making a big mistake.

Your clients are your biggest source of revenue. They buy your products and services and they recommend you if you have done a good job. Cater to them and use them as your sales force. Almost all businesses offer discounts or special offers to those who have never tried their product or service but very few ever offer loyal customers anything. Go against the flow and watch how your customers will talk about you to their friends. There is no better marketing than referrals from happy clients.

Who are your clients? There are many mothers who have children and are not the least bit interested in creating scrapbooks. You must learn who buys your products and services and why. In the scrapbooking business the why could be, they don’t have time to do it themselves, they love the thought of a beautiful scrapbook, they want to preserve their family memories for future generations, etc. Use the information you collect to see who your ideal buyer is, what concerns and motivates them. Once you know this you can create marketing tactics that will bring you sales.

No matter what business you are in you must demonstrate value to your prospective clients as well as your existing clients. They need to feel confident that you will provide what they are seeking. You should always be marketing a solution or a value or both. Many businesses simply give a list of the services and products they provide. As a scrapbook designer View definition in a new window you can appeal to the emotional side of sales. Most people buy on emotion and not on logic.

To be successful you must always be gaining new customers. It is the lifeblood of your business. Do you have a strategy which helps you achieve qualified prospects on a regular basis? One of your business goals should be to improve your lead generation methods and motivate prospects to give you their contact information so you can market to them.

As with any business you should be creating relationships and not just selling your products and services. Gaining a new client is 10 time more difficult than selling to an existing client. Not only that but as previously mentioned your existing clients will be much more likely to promote your products and services for you giving you a steady stream of qualified leads.

If you want to grow your business find ways to stay in touch with your clients, send them a birthday card, send their kids a birthday card, send them an occasional “just wanted to say hello” message, educate them by articles on your website or newsletter. You can come up with lots of ways to stay in touch and this will keep you and your business in their mind.

Marketing is not difficult but it does require a concentrated effort for a sustained period of time. Testing your methods to see what works and what doesn’t is important as well. Try new things and don’t be afraid of something failing for there are many other methods available to you.

In other circumstances, you might just be in charge of decorating scrapbook pages after the photos have already been placed. For example, you can decorate pages with stickers or with fancy lettering. Digital scrapbook flourishes are decorative touches added to photos on the page of a digital scrapbook project.

As in writing, a flourish is an ornamental embellishment, added to make the page showier. Such embellishments appeared frequently in Victorian writing, but are now reserved for things such as certificates where calligraphy appears.

A digital scrapbook flourish might be a sweeping stem of flowers placed across the corner of a photo. It could be a circular "doodle" of intricately interwoven lines. Sometimes, digital scrapbook flourishes take a free art form, flowing loops of color or black sweeping onto the photo from opposite corners.

Brushes or Rubber Stamps

The forerunners of digital scrapbook flourishes are done with "brushes" in conventional scrapbooking. The term "brushes" can be misleading, however, as no artist's or painter's brush is involved. These decorative touches are added with rubber stamps in conventional scrapbooking.

Since digital scrapbooking is done solely on the computer, the "brushes" or "rubber stamps" may be previously created designs placed on the electronic page atop the photo. Another way of producing digital scrapbook flourishes is to use a digital brush to doodle or swirl a design onto the finished page.

Advantages of Digital Scrapbook Flourishes

Many advantages can be gained through the use of digital scrapbook flourishes. A page that is other wise little more than a simple photo album page gains interest, and tells a more complete story through the addition of flourishes. How do flourishes accomplish that?

1. Digital scrapbook flourishes give cohesiveness to a page. For example, a page that features two similar photos can look bare if the two photos sit alone on the background. Look at what a digital scrapbook flourish can do. A flourish can sweep between the photos, crossing one corner of each, and tying them together. A flourish can be echoed from one photo to the next. Place identical flourishes across matching corners to show the photos' relationship. A few small flourishes can flow between the photos, overlapping each photo slightly at one or two spots. All of these, and more, are ways to pull page elements together with digital scrapbook flourishes.

2. Digital scrapbook flourishes can also be used to convey emotion. A photo of a young girl, just home from her first dance, can become wistful and nostalgic if a spray of flowers floats across one corner. A photo of a boy's first baseball game recalls his excitement when a flourish of a trophy is added.

3. Finally, a digital scrapbook flourish can simply make a dull page showy. Think of an official royal decree. It would carry as much power on a plain piece of paper, provided it had the proper seal. But a flourish or two makes it showy - gives it importance. Digital scrapbook flourishes can do the same for your electronic page.

Sources for Digital Scrapbook Flourishes

The best source for digital scrapbook flourishes may be your own skill and a good computer graphics program. If you are comfortable with using such a program, and know your way around it, you can find many built-in flourishes, as well as tools to create your own flourishes.

If you do it yourself, you can create digital scrapbook flourishes from a bit of your digital scrapbook paper design. Simple capture the flower or design element you want for a flourish and "clean" it, removing unwanted background colors. Place the finished flourish on your page and see how well it ties in with the background. Change its color, if desired, for more contrast.

Most digital scrapbook software includes flourishes and embellishments. If you are using such a program, look for "brushes" or "stamps" to use.

Websites that retail digital scrapbook supplies will also have digital scrapbook flourishes. Look at their samples to get ideas. Purchase packages of digital scrapbook flourishes from them.

Helpful tip: When you come across a term such as "flourishes" in your digital scrapbook work, pursue it until you understand it. Understanding the "technical talk" is a big part of making a great digital scrapbook.

Free Scrapbooking Paper To Print

Scrapbooking paper forms the background for every page of your scrapbook. If you begin to do many scrapbooks, it can be a major cost. To save that cost, many people look for free scrapbooking paper to print from their computers. Below, we will tell you how to find free scrapbooking paper to print. We will also discuss important things to remember about your scrapbooking paper.

Why Special Scrapbooking Paper

At first, you may be tempted to use plain construction paper for your scrapbooks - or colored paper for your printer. Scrapbooking paper is higher priced than either of those, and it doesn't seem that special!

Preservation: Scrapbooking paper is special because it is intended for the best preservation of your photos and memorabilia. Scrapbooking paper is acid-free and lignin-free. What does that mean for you?

* Acid-free: Scrapbooking paper that is acid-free has a neutral pH. At most, the pH should be between 6 and the neutral 7. The wood pulp of which scrapbooking paper is made contains natural acids. These are neutralized in production by treating the paper with a substance such as calcium. The paper may be buffered also to keep additional acids from forming.

Acid-free scrapbooking paper is used because scrapbooks are intended to last a long time. Acid-free paper will not yellow and deteriorate as regular paper will. In addition, acid-free scrapbooking paper will not harm your photos, or cause them to deteriorate.

* Lignin-free: Lignin is another substance found in wood pulp. Lignin makes acidity even worse. It intensifies acidity. Scrapbooking paper that is acid-free, but not lignin-free, will not remain acid-free as long. Lignin can be removed in the pulping process, but adds to the cost of scrapbooking paper.

You may have a newspaper that has turned brown over time. That brownness is caused by the lignin, which makes acid form inside the paper fibers. Scrapbooking paper that is lignin-free is not as likely to turn brown.

Problems with Free Scrapbooking Paper to Print

Free scrapbooking paper to print on your own machine may have drawbacks that will make you reconsider.

1. Scrapbooking paper you print will not be acid-free and lignin-free unless you purchase special paper for your printer. Such paper is available, of course. You simply need to check before you purchase.

Acid-free possibilities at office supply stores online include: regular multiuse and copy paper; color copy paper; inkjet paper; laser paper; and business stationery.

2. If you decide to find free scrapbooking paper to print, you will probably have to settle for a smaller size. Scrapbooking paper is often 12" x 12" and few printers are capable of handling that size. Even if you use 8.5" x 11" paper, your printer's margins may prevent you from printing the next convenient size of 8" x 8".

3. Free scrapbooking paper to print at home is not likely to offer as many patterns and colors. You may want to look for digital scrapbooking paper, enhance it in a graphics program such as Adobe PhotoShop, and then print it.

How to Find Free Scrapbooking Paper to Print

Scrapbooking paper found online is sometimes totally FREE - no strings attached. At other websites, you may be asked to take a survey, or sign up for a newsletter before gaining access to free scrapbooking paper.

Begin a Google search by typing the search phrase "free scrapbooking paper to print" without quotation marks. You should find several websites at the top of Google's results. Usually, what you want will be in the first 10 or 20 sites only.

When you have finished looking at those sites, type the phrase "free digital papers" or "free digital scrapbooking" without quotation marks. You should get additional websites that offer free scrapbooking paper to print.

For even more choices, simply visit scrapbooking sites. Many offer several free items to lure customers to their store.

Finally, look on your computer software for free scrapbooking paper to print. Software programs often have patterned stationery templates that make good scrapbooking paper. If you are working with Adobe Photoshop or a similar program, create your own scrapbooking paper by repeating a pattern.

Let your imagination take over, and you will soon see free scrapbooking paper in many places.
